Bought a Toshiba laptop and it had issues of screen freezing and black screen on reboot. Sent it in for repair with detailed letter describing what was happening and that merely re-imaging the HD would not solve the problem as I had already tried that.

Received the laptop back within a week and it said it had been re-imaged and tested out fine. I turned it on, pulled up a browser window and it promptly froze up again. I rebooted and got a black screen and called customer service. I requested to just have a refund as I can't afford to waste anymore time on a defective product. I was politely told I would have to mail a letter to the corporate office as they were not able to handle that.

I mailed out a certified letter the next day and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Today Jennifer Burnett called me and told me the only option was to send it in for re-repair (is that even a word?). I told her that was not acceptable and I still wanted a refund. She merely told me that if I changed my mind to give her a call.

I went and posted a review on Amazon warning others to avoid this laptop. While there I happened to notice that all the reviews of people who had purchased this laptop around the same time as me were negative. Perhaps there was a bad batch somehow as people who purchased before that all seem pleased.

I still am requesting a refund and will continue to do so. There's no excuse for spending over $1100 on something that won't even turn on anymore and I can no longer trust this company or the product they produce.
