Had camera amost a month to be repaired - nikon camera

I brought this camera in may and in july it broke. I went to pc richards on july 27 because i could not charge my camera, july 28 received e-mail has arrived at the service center july 29 sent camera to manufacture for repair another e-mail aug 4 called them back and they told me i would have to pay 90.00 to get it fixed, i also told them that someone already called me regarding the issue i called to check on the status aug 18 and they finally told me 7 to 10 business days why is it taken so long to fix a camera.
