I ordered $173.00 worth of magazine subscriptions from a very polite, Christian young man and never received any of the 3 subscriptions

I ordered $173.00 in magazine subscriptions from a very polite, nice Christian young man. I have never received ANY of my 3 subscriptions. When 6 months passed, I called the company number only to hear a recorded message stating that the owner had passed away and they were "working on" getting the money back to all of their customers.
Each time I called, I received the same message.
Over two more years have passed.
The number now has been disconnected.
