Poor accounting on thier part

The company treated our house on 12/18/09, left the invoice in a plastic bag on the porch. We were not aware that this was their billing method, as opposed to sending a bill in the mail. The company called about payment, I informed them I hadn't seen an invoice, they sent me one, I mailed the payment on 01/21. They notified me the following week they had not received the check, then agreed to wait another week to see if it showed up, it did not. On Feb 05, I mailed a replacement check and stopped payment on the first check, at a cost to me of $15.00. Ten days later, I received my replacement check back in the mail, called the company to find out why, and mysteriously, both checks showed up on the same day in the mail. The problem, the check they kept was the one I had stopped payment on. The accounts person agreed to credit me back my stop payment fee and send an invoice reflecting such, for me to pay. Another week went by, no invoice had come, I contacted company to inquire about it, and one was sent reflecting proper amount owed. I sent another check on March 02, it has cleared my bank, but today, I received a letter that they were turning this over to a collection agency. This whole mess was due entirely to Home Team's ineptitude and inability to properly control their billing department and accounts receivables.
