Ourisman Mitsubishi
Auto Loans Direct Told me I was pre-approved for up to $27000, got me in the door and rejected me because of bankruptcy that was discharged

Miscellaneous

Dear Mr. John Ourisman:
On 3/3/10, I received a "Certificate of Motor Vehicle Acquisition Opportunity" notice in the mail, issued by Ourisman Mitsubishi. When I called the toll free number, I was told I qualified to purchase a vehicle of up to $27000. I was told all I needed to do was to make an appointment to meet with a sales manager (Anthony Potts), to bring my pay stub, drivers license, proof of insurance and proof of residence. I informed the rep that I had a bankruptcy and it has been discharged. I also informed the rep that I did not have any money for a down payment and if that was a problem, I wanted to know right then so that I would not waste my time or theirs. The rep told me it was not a problem, he would put my info in the system so that the lender would know my particular situation and I had to schedule an appointment to keep the funds available to me. So, I scheduled the appointment for the same night at 7:45pm.
When I arrived, I met with Mr. Potts and he turned me over to a sales rep. The rep took some more information from me and I was told that there would not be a credit report ran because I was already pre-approved. I do not know if they did indeed run a credit report or not, but they did find out about the bankruptcy. After about 15 minutes or so, the sales rep came back and told me that I did not qualify because of my bankruptcy. I informed the sales rep the bankruptcy has been discharged and I had the discharge paper with me, but that did not matter. I informed the sales rep that it clearly states in the certificate that I received "Bankruptcies must be discharged", and mine was, so I did not understand why I was being turned down. I told the sales rep I had clearly stated to the rep that set up the appointment that I did not want to waste my time if there was not an opportunity to make a purchase.
I voiced my concern to Mr. Potts and he stated he would report the issue. (To whom I don't know). I walked out the door very upset and then came back in to call the toll free number to find out what the problem was. When I got the rep who scheduled the appointment on the line, I asked for the name of the company he worked for three times, he refused each time and then hung up on me. I yelled out "He hung up on me!", but Mr. Potts was on a call and completely ignored me.
I called the toll free number on the certificate again on 3/4/10 and it sounded like the very same rep I had spoken with previously and I again asked for the name of the company he worked for. He stated "Ourisman Mitsubishi". I asked him again and he said the same thing. I told him he did not in fact work for the dealership and waited for an answer. The line was dead; he had hung up on me again. I called the dealership and asked for the manager or the person in charge. I was given Mr. Lee Williams. I told him about what had happened and he said that I needed to contact the company that sent me to them. I told him that the rep had hung up on me and that he should be concerned about a company that represents them in a bad way. He said he would relay my concerns. (Again to whom I don't know). I asked who was the owner of the company and if he comes into the dealership. He provided me the name of "Mr. Ourisman". I told him I would be filing a complaint with the BBB and also writing a letter to Mr. Ourisman.
Mr. Ourisman, I sincerely hope you will take this letter seriously. As a business man, Im sure you know how valuable a persons recommendation or negative report can be to a company. All I want is either for your company to honor what was promised in the certificate mailed to me, or simply compensate me for my time and gas.
I look forward to hearing from you.
