United Family Circulation, Inc. Hit our street up for magazine sales to a college she said she was going to in England. College did not exist

A young lady by the last name of York (probably false) approached our dark neighborhood on 1. New Year's Day at 7:30 P.M. Went from dark door to door pretending to be raising funds by selling bloated magazine subscriptions to help her go to Cambridge in England. When questioned by several neighbors who were familiar that Cambridge isn't a college on it's own but several she was stumped. That threw up a flag. One neighbor did buy into her scam sales tactic but after calling other neighbors soon she found out the phone numbers this lady left were false also she notified the sheriff. The sheriff let us know that this same type of sales had already been reported in our town. Luckliy this neighbor filed for a refund in the alloted time period. Only to loose out on $20 to overnight the request. Our local newspaper later ran an ad to worn others of the difference of a school in our area selling magazines versus this type whose first line is that they are your neighbor, etc. It's evident by reading other reports that this type of way to earn money for your own benifit is the type of advice on how to reel a buyer in... Act like they are your buddie, pretend they are going to a college, your near by neighbor, etc. Giving false information I am sure is against the law. Keep this in mind as well. They say if you don't want the magazine they could mail it to a Children's hospital or... How would you know if your copy ever makes it. Or if it's what you want to have gone there... How many copies never make it only to once benifit this Tuscan Readers Services. Why do they have so many names? Don't you think that is strange also? Beware of this scam. Oh and the sellers are told they will make 80% profit. That's because of the bloated cost of the subscription... I checked out one. Weight Watchers for $12 issues they charged $51! On the stand the card you can subscribe to is only $12.95! Hope this gets to others and somehow stops this crooked way of obtaining ones own gains by wising up all of us. Better yet ask for ID and a permit. Most are on foot so you can't get their vehicles plates as suggested by our local Sheriff. Now to find out where they are getting this type of job... Through a list on the Internet or newspaper. Someone has to know...
