Approximately 6 years ago had contract with AT&T mobile for cell phone service. Moved to area where there was no cell phone service. Contacted AT&T, told them no service in my area, your contract is null and void (2 months left on contract). AT&T said you signed a contract, you still owe.
I told them you are just like land line telephone company, satellite tv company, electric company — if I don't get service, I don't pay.
Have sent bill collectors after me for 5 years. The latest says they'll settle for $50 (2/19). I don't feel I owe them $50 — I never got no service from them. Who do they think they are? No service and you still pay.
Neighbors moved in with a cell phone through Verison, they told Verison they had no service in this area. Verison says fine, you're out of the contract. Which was the sensible thing to do.
P.S. Bill collector is Afni, inc.
