Using my ss# to scare me

I have been receiving several phone calls like the others that say they want to "verify" my information. They know my address, phone, ss#, etc. And it is very disturbing. They all tell me that I need to be at court on Monday in California because I have several charges against me for check fraud. I then told the gentleman the first time that my father was a detective for the police department and the guy hung up on me. The second call I received I told them I had a lawyer and he asked for his number; I gave them my lawyers number and they hung up. About 4 days laters someone different called me at work and started with the whole check fraud story and I explained to him that I had already retained an attorney and they asked for his number again; I told them I gave him that info last week and he hung up on me. It is very distubing that these people continue to call from different numbers and they are getting away with this. I do not like the fact they have my ss# at all. I have since red flagged my credit reports so if anyone tries to use my credit they will be turned down and I will be notified. It is a very scary situation that these people are the criminals and nothing is being done. I also asked them for their address so my attorney could send them paperwork and they hung up on me. It is very upsetting.
