I Allegedly Took Out A Payday Loan From U.S. National Bank

On July 11 at approximately 4 P.M., I received a phone call at work from Shawn Matthews of the Legal Affidavit Office. He indicated that I took out a $5,484 payday loan under U.S. National Bank on June 26 and that I will be pick up by a sheriff and placed in jail pending bail if I do not provide the name of an attorney by 11:30 A.M. On July 12.

He had my last 4 digits of my Social, the last 4 digits of my Bank of America account (which has been closed since 11/07) and the street number where I reside. I explained that I am not familiar with U.S. National Bank. He asked me the name of my attorney who will be representing me so that he can fax me an Affidavit of Service. He read me the Affidavit of Service over the phone indicating that I am charged with bounce check, money fraud, etc. I indicated that this is the first time I am hearing about this and I do not have an attorney. I explained that I would call him back. He gave me his phone number as 310-499-9984. The number on my Caller ID at work indicated Inphonex. I, in turn, spoke to an attorney who notified authorites of what was going on.

At approximately 5 p. M, I then received a call from Mr. Matthew's supervisor, Tom Stevenson. This time, I had an attorney speak with him. He was very aggressive and arrogant to the attorney. The attorney asked him for the address of the company and fax number of the company and Mr. Stevenson refused to give the info. The attorney made him aware that identity theft is a federal offense and that both Mr. Matthews and Mr. Stevenson have been reported to the proper authorities. Mr. Stevenson then hung up on the attorney.
