Credit card policy - checkout

Miscellaneous

The last two visits to the Target store in El Cajon surprised me. The store is beautiful and I have no complaint with the personnel, however, the current policy regarding credit card purchases gives me pause. For purchases under $50.00, the cashier does not ask the customer to sign nor do they ask for any identification. This seems to me to be a very foolish and risky procedure. If my credit card was stolen, the thief could go to any Target store and as long as the total purchase was under $50.00, they would be home free. They could buy many items simply by returning to the cashier stand multiple times. Further, they could take the items back the next day and say they lost the receipt and get cash for the return—either way the owner of the credit card loses! This is a bad policy and I'd like to see it amended. I put "Ask for I.D." on all my credit cards so I am assured that if the holder of that card does not have the proper I.D. To match my name on the card—no purchases will be allowed.
