Making a "collect" call with this company means they "collect" big $ from your credit card

I was at the train station and needed to call home to tell my wife what time to pick me up. My cell phone was dead so I used the payphone at the station to place a collect call to my home number. When my wife answered I heard the operator ask the usual, "collect call from Jay will you accept the charges". After she replied "yes" the operator told me to hold the line while he confirmed the billing information. My side of the call went silent as he proceeded to take down credit card information from my wife. He never disclosed any information about what the charges would be nor did my wife ask
