Mike the owner-lied and is dishonest

Three days ago, my son (a college student) and i went to see mike -the owner! A black 1999 subaru legacy was just coming in the lot and we were interested in that car and waited for 15 mins for mike to get off his cell ph to ask to drive it. We drove it and we told him we wanted it and agreed on $2000. Cash deal. Told him that we wanted to pick the car up tomorrow and take it to our mechanic. He said, "no problem, come back at 2 tomorrow, but call first. "i called him at 10:30 the next morning and he said, "see you at 2:00pm" i called an hour before to let him know we were coming and told him again that we were very serious about this car. He said, "don't worry the car is yours -you were first, but i forgot you were coming and sent the car out to be detailed, call back later, i will call the guy and find out when it will be back." we waited a couple hours then called back and he didn't answer, so we went there. The car wasn't there and he said, "the detail guy hasn't brought the car back, he isn't answering the phone because he is detailing it and does a very good job. He is supposed to bring it back late tonight, come tomorrow morning at 9:30 and you can take the car to your mechanic." so we did that, we didn't call first this time and showed up at 10:00 am and mike nor the car was anywhere to be found. I spoke with a young man that was out in the lot, a family member of mike's-told him why we were there and he said, "mike's not here or the car and he doesn't know where the car is but 3 other people were interested in that car." i then called mike on my cell phone and he answered, i asked him where the car was as we are standing here in his car lot as he told us to be here and he said, "i am at my attorney's office and i can't except any more calls right now." then hung up. I then when into the office and spoke with "wendy" i believe is her name, (very nice) she is also a family member and i told her what was going on and explained that i feel he is stringing me/us along and wasting our time and i believe he has sold the car to someone else and he promised it to us as we were first. I told her i was very upset and i wanted to know where the car was by 12:30 pm as i have to get moving with this as i have wasted enough time already." she took my number and called me back at 12:30 pm and said, "he sold the car to someone else".
