H&R Block software should not be used by those with self employment income that is partly from notary public fees, minister income, etc. As there is a flaw in how their program calculates the self employment tax, EIC, and additional child tax credit with these types of income.

Two years in a row now, I have made their company aware of their programing miscalculation and each time I have been I have been assured the program calculation error has been fixed. Each year it HAS NOT BEEN FIXED, causing delays in IRS processing due to these returns being sent to the IRS errors department for recalculation.

H&R Block has been willing to refund the cost of the programs IF you mail them your receipt and your program. I did this trustingly last year at the cost of $9.43 for postage to never receive a refund and then being told that they had never received my receipt and software. Then this year after spending the money for the program and the same error accruing again H&R wants me to send them the software I purchased to them for the never to fix the problem or refund my money.

Since they are refusing to correct the programming error that is causing the miscalculation that is causing the IRS to have to do the recalculation manually which is causing a delay of 2 to 4 weeks, I am writing this complaint.

I believe a company that states:

Should be held accountable and financially responsible for all costs of their program, the efiling fees, and time spent by their customers to use H&R block programs to prepare their tax returns that the IRS says have calculation errors that H&R Block program is making, not the person preparing the return.
