Lynne Brown-Arizona Laser Lipolysis Institute
Lynne T. Shaklan-Brown 10K down the drain! Bought a business, but only recieved a laser

Miscellaneous

I had recently been Certified to do Laser Hair Removal, and was looking forn jobs, lasers, or a business to buy. I saw Lynne Brown's ad on Craigslist for a business with the purchase of a Laser. She wanted $12,000 for the Laser, $500 a month rent for a room in her office, and she would provide the full clientele that had been already getting treatments by her (about 5000 maybe more, she said)... She would also provide any training on the laser and 1 year full service on the laser.
After driving over an hour and a half to her location, I knew working there would be a hard commute, and asked her if the deal would be negotiable. She said yes, and I proposed that I pay $10,000 for the laser, clientele list, training, and 1yr service warranty.
She agreed, but said she was going out of town for a week and would like to take care of things before she left. So, I paid her with a credit card, picked up the laser... Had a very brief lesson, about 10 min. At the most, and was told she would send the Excel Files with all the clients via e-mail, and marketing file templates.
I never heard from her again. I called many times, e-mailed many times, tried to contact via multimedia, ie. Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Linked-in... No response. I tried to call her Tech that was to service the laser if I had any problems and no answer either, no returned calls. After 3months of trying every amicable way to resolve the problem, I called the credit card company.
Appartently she knew what she was doing, they said. She put the total amount under the Laser, and a zero dollar amount under everything else... Therefore, you cannot dispute a $0 value! I googled her name, and that is when I saw the consumer complaints, showing not only her past conduct, but 25 judgements already against her!!! I contacted a lawyer who said I definately have a case... Would probably win... But then I would have to get in line with everyone else... And I would never see any money... If I wanted to still try he would, but he gets $250 an hour that I cannot afford.
I think she is either renting the room out to someone else and providing the list to them... OR the list never existed, and she totally conned me to sell her laser.
I hope nothing goes wrong with the laser... It is a company out of Germany... It would be a $1500 service call, not including parts, and it would be another $1500 to get a warranty.
I never would've bought the laser from her without the list... Buying a machine is easy... Getting the clients is the hard part!
