Scam to keep cleaning deposits on rentals

My family and I rented a cabin in Rockaway from this person. We were careful to sweep the floors, vaccum, and fold the blankets, put the dirty linen into neat piles, clean the kitchen, wash the dishes, close the windows, we even cleaned the moldy barbecue grill that was disgustingly dirty with old food. We had a nice time on the beach with a fire in the sand, and bought smoked fish from Karla's like we always do in Rockaway. When we returned home we were presented with a scathing report of the smell of smoke in the house, fish smells in the kitchen and that we had moved the furniture and left all the windows open. The maid said she did not have enough time to clean thoroughly, even though we checked out at 11:00 AM. They kept our cleaning deposit for these reasons. We believe they twist our words, make up reasons to keep the $200.00 deposit and outright lie about the condition the house is left in, after advertising a buy three, get two nights free deal on the internet. We, and everyone we know will never rent from these people again. We have rented many houses on the coast over the years, and have NEVER had a problem before.
