Direct TV is a total scam!

Yup, I'm another lucky person to have been ripped off by Direct TV. They signed me up for an 18 month contract that I didn't agree to. Now I'm stuck paying them for services I'm not even using (we switched to cable out of disgust).

I've read hundreds of reports of Direct TV ripping people off and taking money out of bank accounts. What I haven't seen is anyone who has actually had success getting out of a contract with this horrible company or getting the money back that was taken out of a bank acccount.

My question is is there any hope in getting out of a contract with this company? I'm afraid to call them and try to cancel my service because I'm afraid they'll take money out of my bank account. It disgusts me that a company can have the power that this company does and we're all supposed to just lie down and take it.

I've written a letter to my state's Attorney General. Not sure if that will help at all.
