My friend like many of us fell past due on his credit cards. Becoming overwhelmed he signed a contract with century negotiation inc, aka. Cni, debt settlement co. Why wouldn't he? They promised to lower his interes rate, lower his payments and have him debt free in 3 years. They designed a payment plan that would guarantee all of this to happen for him. For the next 3 years he paid them $424 a month religiously. He never missed a payment, never hard from his creditors and believed everything was taken care of. He had 4 cards enrolled in their program. Cni contacted him and said they settled 3 out of 4 of his accounts and were working on the 4th. He felt confidant in the company untill he was served on 1 of his accounts. He contacted cni and was told they wouldn't work them. That's not what he was advised when he enrolled in the program. They told him there was nothing they could do. They even said you should have been paying your creditors every month in addition to paying us. That was shocking since when he enrolled he was advised to stop all contact with all his creditors! He checked his credit report and only 1 of the 3 credit accounts cni supposedly settled was reported. That accounted for $6000 of the $15264 he paid in. Where was the rest of his money? Ci said they would give back $1500 but the rest was gone. Where did it go? Whose pocket was his money? Now he out $7764 and in a worse situation to begin with. Not to mention the balance on the 3 cards they did nothing with has tripled! Is there anyone who can help him get his money back. How is our country allowing people to get scammed like this? Please help!
