Loss of service with page

On or about November 17 I found out that, after 15 years of service with Skytel with the same number (1-800-549-3959) I could no longer receive pages on my pager. I contacted them and they issued me a trouble ticket (4004-TIMJ-9461). After a week with no results I again contacted them and was tols the trouble was being worked on. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was informed that one was not available., but they would get back to me. That never happened. On November 30 I again contacted them and they said that my pager was not on a good frequency and they sent me a new pager WITH A NEW PHONE NUMBER. Please understand that my business depends entirely on the ability for my clients (employees and their families) as well as my business constituents to contact me. Getting a new number entails new business cards, new posters, new promotional items (pens, kitchen magnets, etc.) placing new numbers on 1000 brochures in my contracted companies and contacting veveryone to notify them of the number change. When the new pager arrived I activated it and there was no response. I again contacted them and was then told that because a tower was taken down I would not be able to receive any pages. I asked them why I wasn't informed (I'm sure ther are others in this same position) I was told that they didn't do that and that when I realized I was not receiving pages I would contact them. I have since purchased a new pager which I will receive on December 7 from American Messaging. I maus then go through the process of changing all the aformentioned items. I feel they did me an injustice and this will be very expensive for me. Please note: I cannot cancel my pager with SkyTel until I have personally visited all my sites and changed all the numbers. I was told that I could not transfer my number to a new company because the companies own the 800 numbers.
