State recycling board
We pay $. 05 for small plastic bottles. Vender pays same to state. New lightweights payback only $. 025. What does state do with the excess money not refunded to us

My state charges $. 05 recycling fee on small plactic bottles. This includes the new eco-friendly ones like arrowhead that now weigh much less and then there are the small child size.By weight, a Vitamin Water bottle, pays back $, 05 but the lighter Arrowhead bottles only pays $. 025, havent weighed the small child size. We pay the store, and the store pays the same to the state. Most recycling places either weigh or have manual feeds. Many of the recycling centers are unmanned. Many of the hand feeds will reject the smaller and lighter ones, and usually get tossed in trash.in my area, most all centers have removed the manual feeds and will only pay by weight. Recycling center is repaid by state, only what they pay out. So... They started this to cut down on litter, it wasnt meant to be some kind of money making scam. But if we cannot take these to recycling center and receive full value, the State gets to keep the money. WHAT ARE THEY DOING WITH IT? It would be nice to know that it is going to help the state economy somehow. Considering how many millions of these bottles are purchased everyday, this would amount to a great sum of money. They do have to power to alter the fee on these smaller and less weight bottles, but am sure it is of no interest to them, especially if they benefit from this. And I would bet most people that take the time to return them to recycling centers, assume they are getting their full refund back, and If this was known to them, they may feel some concern. I have even tried to ask some news people if this seems newsworthy, but so far, noone seems to care.
I hope this seems of some importance, and im not just needing mental help ;
