Maintenance Engineering
Superior Lighting Required $495 fee which was to be refunded after training of 3 months

Miscellaneous

Maintenance Engineering had an advertisement on CareerBuilders, outlining what a great "green" company they were. I applied and was contacted by HR and set up a phone interview with LeeVon Sauvageau. She asked a lot of questions and really stressed that this was a career, not a job. She said that salespeople within a short period of time had so much repeat business that they spent most of their time just writing orders.in fact, after retirement they could stay with the company and just keep their existing clients and write up their orders for years. Wow, what a job. After all, lights are required by everybody!!!
The big drawback was the $495 down that was required to go to work for them. I have an Environmental Studies degree and this sounded good —so off I was going to build a career. Having been in sales for 12 years, owning a business for the last 6 years, suffering thru the flooding of New Orleans & the recession had taken its toll on my life. I was looking for a business that had repeat business, was recession proof, and it was a real career that I could continue after retiring in 8 yrs.
Their training was over the phone for one week and everything was hard sell, with a 5-point closing. 4' florescents were approximately $20 per bulb with shipping and they informed me to contact only very small business. They don't do repeat business with a bulb that may last 7 years? You can purchase one bulb at a time from Home Depot for $2.75 Never got any of it back after more than 6 months and really trying to make income. Only made 1 sale $154 = $19.85 commission
I then figured that if I brought literally thousands of potential bulbs through architects & commercial accounts they would be excited and work with me on contracts. Not true, they would only offer a 10% discount. This company is not a place to work. They are on Monster, Craig's List and others. They are looking for your money with no chance for a refund. You need to sell $25K to get your $495 back — so no refund. They also have a sister company called Superior Lighting. Run from them as fast as you can and tell everybody to steer clear of them.
