Johnson Designs Dawn Arnold Posing as a contractor, uses his family for scams, takes advantage of everyone he knows

Glen Johnson/Johnson Designs is working in Aurora as a contractor. He "became" a contractor after a conversation with a neighbor regarding what he might be qualified to do. We were neighbors before he moved and he borrowed vehicles, money, and tools from us because we were good neighbors. We got him work with our families and friends. He built a deck for each of our parents house, build pergola for another neighbor, and built railing for my grandparents. When I say built, I mean that he tells people what he is going to do, draws up a contract, tells a story about why he MUST have payment in cash (he does not have valid ID, does not have a bank account, has bad credit...) He and his wife Dawn Arnold (not legally married so that they can get welfare for their 4 children) tell a sad story about how they have to have cash up front because they have 4 kids and they need to take care of rent and taking care of them. He has started all of the jobs, gotten paid - and he demands payment upfront in cash, and then he leaves without going back. He moves on to jobs that he says "are actually paying", even though the other jobs have already paid him.

Because he spontaneously decided to contractor, he "borrows" tools from sites and takes them to other sites. Many times one of the sites that he works for is missing personal tools and then they turn up at a neighbors site. When he is confronted about them, he says that the tools are at another site and that he will get them. There have been dates and times set for the return of tools, and he has failed to return them. He has stolen a washer and dryer from my grandparents and his reply is that they will have to sue him to get it back. Neighbors of mine say that he tried to break into our house and then he called the police when he couldn't get it to say that he saw something suspicious so that they could be the hero. This man says that he is a legitimate company, but he and his "wife" could not afford the business registration fee and they did not legally register the business.

He gives contracted quotes from his company, but is not actually a registered company. Once he gets a job, the day that he gets paid - he takes the day off, because they need to get groceries... Then he comes back, but he does not start work until 11 am each day and he only spends a few hours of work at a site. He goes into people's homes and spends most of his time asking if he can "take" things because he will need them more as a contractor. Also, once the job is about 70% finished, he does not come back. ALL of the jobs that he started for us, family and neighbors in July are still not complete. This man, his company, and his family are SCAM artists. The neighbor says with confidence that he sold drugs out of his home, and we do know that he goes to the ER whenever he feels the slightest bit ill to get medication and then takes another week out of his job. Lastly, this man has admitted that when he needs extra materials, he builds the price of them into the price of a job and charges the customer. He has, on many occasions returned homeowners items and then come back and asked us and neighbors to purchase from him gift cards to home improvement stores so that he has the cash.

We want Aurora to be aware that this man is selling his sad story for a profit and 1 will not finish the job and 2 does a crappy job. Is there anything you can do to help?
