Walgreens fiasco! Treat customers like criminals

Recently my granddaughter, great-granddaughter and I went into a local Walgreens to use recently expired Register Rewards. This Walgreens had taken the expired coupons in the past, as long as they scanned. My granddaughter completed her transaction with the Asst. Manager, put her items with receipt in the cart and was waiting for mine to be completed. While waiting for me to finish she took her child, (my great-granddaughter) to the car to feed her a snack. My total is finallytallied, I use a gift card and there is a 6.00 balance. Before I can pay the balance the Asst. Manager suddenly says "these are expired" to which I respond, "yes they are". Now, after what has turned out to be over an hour long experience, she states I can not have any of my merchandise and she refuses to finish the sale. She starts in on me about how we are trying to commit coupon fraud.

In the meantime, I complete my purchase at the register while this Asst. Manager takes my cart behind another counter, with my coupon folder. She refuses to give me my money back or my personal merchandise. So to bring this long saga to an end, the police are called, we are both fingerprinted and "trespassed" outside the store in the parking lot in front everyone and told by the police officer that if I don't "just shut up" he'll arrest me. Having lived in this community for over 35 years and being a working professional with nothing more in my life than a speeding ticket, this was most embarrassing. After many conversations with the Regional Manager that informed me the cashier, Asst Manager, stated I used profanity and she was intimidated which was an outright falsehood I received a letter from the Walgreens corp. Office that they would no longer serve me as a customer. I feel that my granddaughter's rights were certainly violated since she had completed her transaction and was outside sittingi n the car.
How can a company treat customers like this, lie about them and get away with it?
