Tourism & Sport Authority Conspires with Legislators to RipOff Residents

Those of us who voted FOR Proposition 302 expected several things. We expected to get a stadium in a SAFE location. We expected a boon to our economy. Now, even before construction has officially begun we learn that we have only been shown images through smoke and mirrors.

The Mayor of Phoenix has revealed that the Bidwell's have illegally circumvented public policy to get a publically-financed facility gratis, in a location, owned by the Salt River Project, that is not in the best interest of the public. I predict that this will soon come to a referendum. I encourage the public to vote against it, call SRP to withdraw your stock-holder support (as a customer) and I'll tell you why.

Earlier this year my car broke down and I had to rent a car from Budget and picked it up from the Sears location at the Superstition Springs Mall. When I paid my bill upon return, I noted the extra fees for the Bidwell Stadium. I pulled out my driver's license to prove that I am an Arizona resident and asked the fee be removed from the bill. I was told that it couldn't be removed and there was no exception for AZ residents.

I read the literature for Prop 302 and we were distinctly informed that the tax would only be for out-of-towners. This whole thing stinks and I want everyone to press the legislature to do the right thing for the people, not big business. KEEP YOUR PROMISES!

I want my money back from Budget, but I want Bill Bidwell paying!

Newflash, arizona: there is no sales tax in this state. Don't let any business tell you the state makes them take their cut. What businesses collect is a "business tax, " and they are merely allowed (not forced) to pass that tax on to the customer. Therefore, the tax is negotiable. Check it out! I have done it!
