Administrative Fee Scams

I purchased a car for my son (who could not get one in his name) who opened a toll tag account with the NTTA to use with this vehicle as I have one also for the car I drive. My son has driven on the tollway without replenishing his account and now I am receiving the collection notices. I have called multiple times and spoken with a variety of individuals explaining the situation and wondering why they are not billing my son directly since the car license number is registered under his toll tag account. I get different excuses that they are not able to do this. The main one is that the Sate of Texas does not allow the NTTA to bill anyone but the registered owner of the car. I have been advised that they can not put any information or make any notations in the computer about the account or call ins. My tolltag account is in good standing and paid up to date (I have automatic withdrawls set up with my bank). My son has racked up about $75-$100.00 in tolls since March. When I called NTTA again after receiving collection notices from a collection agency, I asked the representative why they just don't take the money that is owed out of my account? This time I am told that I have to register the car under my toll tag account for this to occur and my son already has the car registered under his account. NTTA is charging me over $1000.00 to bring the account current. When I tried to negotiate with them for the approx $100.00 tolls my son has incurred since I am a long time customer, I was told the best they could do is charge me about $650.00 because I have to pay all the administrative fees that are tacked on. This is a total crock. If there is anyone having the same problem and found a solution please let me know how to deal with this money hungry company. No wonder they are having all this bad publicity lately.
