I was on my way to the doctors this morning to have a piece of metal removed from my eye. On the way I felt a shake in the front end of my Mazda MPV. When I got to the doctor’s office I discovered that there was a 3" bubble on one of the front tires (Wal-Mart Purchased) I did not want to replace the tire with the spare because of the eye issue, so my appointment I drove it to Wal-Mart to get the tire replaced. I was told that there was won car ahead of me that was getting a four tire change. So the family and I did some shopping for the next 90 minutes and returned to the service center. They had not even started on the vehicle that was in front of us. I called for the manager and when he arrived the service writer changed his story. He said that there was four batteries plus the tire change in front of us. As I sat in the waiting room and watched the shop for the next 90 minutes I grew even more agitated. The shop personnel were spending more time goofing off the working on the cars. If I was a Cal OSHA inspector I could have shut the shop down for all of the safety violations I witnessed. Consequently, it took over three hours to replace one of there own defective tires. Also as I sat there and talked with other customers, I discovered that they were having similar experiences that I was having.
Needless to say my shopping days at Wal-Mart are over. I will also use my position as a college instructor to notify my fellow colleagues and students of the discrepancies I witnessed and the general disregard for the customers that was occurring on that day
