Miami Dade Parking Dept, claims i owe them an outrageus number of upaid parking citations

2 Months ago i received a notification in mail stating that i owe $315 in unpaid parking citations and i need to pay it off immediatly or a tow order will be issued for my car. As i knew that i have paid ALL my past parking tickets (i have a CURRENT registration on my vehicle, and registrations are not renewed in state of FL unless all parking tickets have been paid) i decided to go to the parking division in person and find out what is happening.

Upon my arrival, after a quick look at the computer screen, the parking clerk informs me that the total ammount i owe is actually 2,700 $!! I am not jocking! I almost fainted. She said i owe these money for citations i have supposedly not paid, the earlier ticket dating in 2000!!! That is 9 years ago! 9 years of renewing registrations and paying tickets. Thats absolutely ridiculous! I further inqured the clerk what are these parking tickets, what licence plates have they been issued on and she gave me a print out. NONE of the tickets were issued on my current plate (which i have had for the past 2 1/2years), and most of them are from rental car companies and also from plates i dont recognize. The clerk said those plates might have been temporary plates i once had and they just now realized i owe them money.

I am still in awe as what is happening. I am supposed to see a judge fairly soon (i have filed a show case motion by myself, without a lawyer). I cant understand why is it my fault for their poor and late action! You cant just go after people almost 10 years later and claim they havent paid tickets! I am certain there has to be some sort of mistake, i dont know what is happening, is it perheps a personal vendetta someone who works for the county has against me? How is it possible that i have paid all my pending tickets (late or not) right before i had to renew my registration every year, and yet i owe them these money??? 1? Someone please help me, i feel liek i am losing my mind.

There is now an impound order on my vehicle, and the amount they want went up to $3,600 due to them sending it to colections.
