Ancestry.com
Credit card rip-off Online

Miscellaneous

Though we did not order anything through Ancestry.com when we signed up many months ago, we just found a charge for over $200 on our debit card from Ancestry.com, which was then instantly refunded. Apparently, they were just checking to see if the card was valid, because immediately after, we received a call from an online merchant saying that this card (which we almost never use online) was just used by someone attempting to buy an i-phone.

We traced the shipping address to a "Global X Trading" in the UK, dealers in scrap metal and electronics; and apparently stolen electronics, as well.
