Recently I received a charge on my debit card from a "Direct One, LLC" for $61.02; of course I had no idea who this was so I did some searching on the internet. The first thing I found was this site (usacomplaints.com) and that the same thing has happened to many others! And for at least one of you, it was the same exact amount as my charge was. And the story is pretty much the same, I called the 1-800# and was told they did not have an account in my name and that they could look it up by credit card. I refused to give them my credit card, and they magically found my account. And they even knew my previous last name and previous address - scary.

They say that I responded to an email offer authorizing them to charge my account, but through another site that I was purchasing something from (vistaprint). So I asked them to tell me my email address if they so called sent me an email. They couldn't.

Needless to say, they claim I should see a credit on my account in the next couple weeks. If not, I'll keep hounding them or go to the attorney general's office and file a formal complaint.

I'm glad I caught this right away - this is a reason that EVERYONE should check their credit card and checking account statements regularly!
