I just got off the phone with a Barry Hill, who says he's the supervisor for the Gift department of Reading America. A real pro, he said he would not risk the integrity of his company who'd been in business for more than 93 years, at least I think that's the number he said, and that he's a father and husband and owner of two dogs. Why did he say all this to me, because he said I had won a $1000 shopping spree and that he needed for me to confirm some information and to ask me other things before I would get the $1000 shopping spree. I was to pay for 6 magazines @ $3.58 a month for the next 60 months, which got consolidated to 20 monthly payments of $40 and change. I knew it was a scam from the very beginning because he said I was a "preferred" customer of Visa. Hahahahahaha... I listened and played along. Error number 1, I don't have a Visa card. Error number 2, confirming how my name is on my card then asking me for the current expiry date. Why would you need to ask me this if you have all the info on me for being a "preferred" customer? Error number 3, and the biggest one, I was to give him my 16-digit card number. Doesn't his database tell him that he just dialed SUKS2BU!

This whole thing played out for a good seven minutes, give or take a minute or two of me putting him on hold while I tended to other stuff. He was very patient and didn't mind at all. This call was on my cell phone, so when I moved to go to another part of the building, apparently he couldn't hear me. He kept saying hello over and over, and I responded, but he couldn't hear me. He was already upset because I wouldn't give him my credit card info. Oh yeah, what credit card?: D Before the line went dead I did hear a slur from him. I'm waiting to see if him or his company will call me back. I can't wait to tell him what I read and wrote on usacomplaints.com.

People beware! Never share information with those you don't know, just for a freebee. With all the stuff going on nowadays, even people who we think we know, shouldn't be given information... Think twice, thrice, as many times as you need. Reading America, people are reading between your lines!
