Hollister store
Poor Customer relations

Miscellaneous

On Sunday March 1-09 I attended at the Hollister store in Melbourne Florida while on vacation. I would like to say first, that both my girls (teenagers) and myself love the Hollister stores and have in fact purchased articles at this particular store before this date. On this occasion I found two zip up sweat shirts, one in white and the other in blue. I selected the blue one and took it to the cash register to pay. The young female clerk said, Oh you can't buy this one it is for display only. She did not offer to find another one or make other suggestions. I returned to the rack of approximately 10-12 sweaters plus two on the manicans and found another in the size I wished on the rack with all the other sweaters. I then returned to the cash register (standing in line again) and on this occasion a male person later to be identified as Brian (he would not supply a last name) who said he was the manager. He said you can't buy this sweater it is for display purposes. I advised him that we just brought one which we couldn't buy! Do you mean we can't buy one of the display models and he said no, they are for display in case someone wants to buy them on line. I found this odd that they needed 2 display models of the same size however he refused to sell one. I returned thinking I would buy the white one at which time I looked on the rack and found the size I wished in blue. I do not know if this is a third sweater or the first one that had been hung up again. This one also had a display tag on it. I remove the display tag (not the price tag) and went to pay for it. The female cashier was ringing in the sale when the manager came out and took the sweater from her and said I told you you can't buy this sweater. My husband asked at this time if he was the manager and he said yes. He was asked his name to which he replied but refuse his last. He asked why and was told a complainant was going in. He reached down and gave us a card and said here call them. This experience is one that I believe should not have happened had this manager been reasonable and allowed one sweater to be purchased and left the other 10-12 for on line purchases. His attitude was basically if you don't like the situation then leave. I find it unusual that a store would keep so many sweaters on display and if it is online buying your company is promoting then why have stores, just do it online. It was a very distastefull experience with this manager who offered no logical reason for the sale not happening. I am very disappointed.
