Took my money and no magazines or subscriptions filled

Young black gentleman dressed very nicely wanted me to buy magazine subscriptions. He got so many points for each subscription he sold and those points were somehow added together and that came out to a total amount in cash that he would earn thru some scholarship program because he wanted to start his own restaurant in Maryland, so I was told. I was initally skeptical but thought I really wanted to help him out as I like to help out the young people that really try to make something of themselves. Well I was short on cash and he told me to post date a check which I had no problem doing.

Needless to say, the check was cashed the very next day, (which I blame the bank for for cashing a check with a date on it for two weeks out. Wondering if it's an inside job with someone at the bank). Never received any magazines. Called the magazine company myself and they don't have me listed as a subscriber. BIG Rip-off!
