Won 2nd place in PCH drawing $1,000, 000 winnings / Check for $5,980 for "fees"

Miscellaneous

My grandfather received a letter from "Publishers Clearing House" very vague and suspicious. Along with the letter was a check for $5,980 to cover some "fees." What that means, who knows?!

The letter said he had won 2nd place drawing for $1 million. Also that the winnings were being handled by an IRS agent, Henry Cohen. He was to call a Harry Freeman before cashing the check. After seeing how many people also won 2nd place on this website, we will not be cashing the check. The check comes from some lighting engineering company. Definitely not a company that the real PCH would be using to write it's checks! Also why would a small company in NM have checks printed in French? (Not the entire check but the small print stuff) I emailed the company to let them know we have a check in there name. Will update if I hear back.
