7: Wanted a better paying job. Decided to try truck driving. Paid Roadmaster of Orlando $6000 to get a CDL-A in 3 weeks.
9/5/08: Passed with high scores.
9/10/08: Hired by Werner. Went to 2 day orientation. Very disorganized.
9/12/08: Got a Trainer, on my way to completing 275 hours. Great Trainer.
10/28/08:275 hours, 30 breakdowns later, was asked to do 50 more hours. (Truck has over 600000 miles on it, and its in bad shape. Just about every trailer we pick up has flat tires or other problems). Trainer gives me great scores. Says that I am more than ready to go solo. I'm very confident and excited.
11/7/08:325 hours, stay on truck at same rate of pay, or go on LOA (leave of absence). Sent to Omaha terminal.
11/8/08: Stranded in Omaha. Would not test me out because they stated accounts were closed for at least 2 weeks. SDM said when a truck comes available, I would be tested out and issued a truck. After sitting in lobby of hotel for 5 hours waiting for a room & new trainer, I decided to take the LOA my SDM suggested. Found out after the fact that they would not help get me the 1000 mile journey home, and I HAD to take the LOA. Spent over $600 for plane ticket and went home to wait on truck. No problem, Ill be making good money soon. (so I thought)
12/5/08: End of LOA, told to return to terminal for new trainer because no trucks available. I get to hotel, no room reserved for me after I was told there was. I call to get voucher for room, was asked why was I there, thier are no trucks available. I drive back home pretty disgusted.
12/12/08: Still getting the run around. Cant afford not having a NON-PAYING job anymore, I give up and resign.
Total money spent (incl expenses on the road for food, travel to & from terminals)= $-1834.57
Total wages (Gross) from start =$ 2753.26
Total money made after 3 months =$ 918.69 (WOW!!! Thats $306.23 a month)
Total in the hole after 6 months =$-5081.31
What a huge mistake choosing werner. I dont know where they get the we-care crap from!
