Mid-Central Realty - Scott Mende Bad rental business practices fraud

We rented an apartment from Mid-Central Realty based in Madison Lake, Mn. Two days after we moved in everyone in the building were served with eviction notices from the county because the owners of the building have not paid their taxes since 1997.

When I approached the company to find out if this was going to be taken care of they said that they already paid their taxes and everything was ok. I contacted the land records office for Blue Earth County and they informed me that the taxes were not paid. The building was inspected 3 times in the last 3 years and the owners have not fixed anything on the inspectors list of items to be repaired or updated. We have also tried to get a copy of our lease 5 different times and still do not have it.

The building is infested with cockroaches and the owners distributed toxic roach killer to the tenants to spread out in their apts to take care of the problem, which is not what the inspector had instructed them to do. They pose a very dangerous health risk to everyone in the building by doing this.

The state will be taking the property in the end of June and don't know what they are going to do with the building as of yet. The garage is filled with old appliances, garbage, furniture and other hazardous materials, not to mention the roof is in very poor condition and is dangerous to anyone that may enter it. My wife and I have two small children and do not feel safe in the apt rented to us. We put everything money and time wise into moving from Minneapolis to St Clair where this apt is located and now will probably have to move again because the owners are not responding to any of the warnings they have been given from the city inspector or the county.

This company also sells houses, so if you are looking for a place to live and the name Mid-Central Realty or Scott Mende are associated with it, start looking somewhere else.
