Bait and Switch—They contacted me to upgrade and then after install the price more than doubles

I was contacted by TWC asking if I would like to upgrade to digital cable with 200 channels and free HBO for 1 yr. The girl assured me it was legit. We scheduled an appt for one week later. The night before the appt I get a call that my appt was rescheduled for 2 weeks later. When the tech comes to my house he makes me an offer for a dvr for only $6 more. I pull up the pricelist on the website and ask is he sure I won't have to pay a $10 service fee too? He assures me that no, it's included in your regular service fee. He goes to his truck and comes back saying that he called customer service and that they took $3 off for the dvr and that they said to call them back and that they could take even more off of my bill. After he leaves, I call customer service and they tell me that my bill has more than doubled but I can call sales and they could help me. Sales says the deal sounds legit that they have deals like that but I have to call telemarketing. They hang up on me. It turns out that the girl that offered me the deal only worked there for 2 days and wasn't supposed to offer me the deal. Now I have a supervisor telling me that she will give me the deal for $10 more than what I agreed to.

Now from this website and others I have found I find that this is common practice for this company. The supervisor says that there is nothing I can do about it because I don't have anything in writing. I also saw the complaints with the FTC and FCC. No wonder their stock is plummeting. Companies whould not be able to get away with this. When my employees make mistakes and quote wrong prices I have to honor them. It's the law!
