Cancelled my order, they deny cancellation and threaten to send me to collections

In June I placed an order, the same day I cancelled the order, per the companies requirements and the laws in NYS (3 days). I sent the cancellation certified mail the same day. I heard nothing from the company nor received any magazines.in November I received a nasty letter saying I owed money and a late fee for the magazines I recieved and that if I didn't pay it I would be sent to collections and reported to the 3 major credit report companies. I called the company three times to clear up the matter. The person at the company would not listen to a word I said, infact rose her voice and kept speaking over me. She hung up the phone on me, I called back she refused to provide with a supervisor or anyone else's name. I offered to fax her copies of everything I sent and was told she doesn't care what I have she is sending me to collections. I have no phone number or fax number other than her's. I have shared my experience with the local district attorney's office who has advised me to contact the Better Business Bureau, and New York State Attorneys office. The DA's office told me, that I am legally in the right, not responsible for anything they may try to send me, and can file against the company if they falsely report me to a collection agency.
