Auto Loan Network
Do not give out your information to this company-hang up

Miscellaneous

I have been receiving phone calls from this company, once on Sunday and again today. The person started out by saying-hello is this (My full name)?
I said yes. He then said"You've been approved for an auto loan." After
telling them I didn't apply for a loan and asked him again where he was calling from and his name (He said his name was Sam and he was calling from Auto Loans Network.) I told him I didn't apply for a loan and he was mistaken. Before I even had a chance to get the rest of my sentence out he had hung up on me. The phone number he called from was (202) 290-3929. When I called it back it was a non-working number.

I believe I got this phone call because my information is on the internet. If you have a profile on CareerBuilders or HotJobs and your resume is searchable, you can become a victim. My home phone number is listed on my resume so I believe that's how they were able to contact me.

Also, be careful about the websites you use and what information you put on them; its better to apply for credit face to face than to send your information over the web. Don't post your SSN#, mother's maiden name, date of birth, or any other identifiable information on the internet-its all thieves need to steal your identity. If you feel your identity has been compromised, put a fraud alert on your credit report immediately-it will last for 90 days.in that time,
you should also double check your credit with the three bureaus-I looked at my credit report and I saw no such information about being pre-approved for an auto loan. You should also make sure to opt out of any pre-approved offers for credit. You can receive a free credit report

If this company actually had your information (SSN#) someone would already be using it. They're just trying to scam you and get your information. You did the right thing by not falling for it but I would make sure to protect my credit.
Also, you should contact Pre-Paid Legal: They have something that's called IdentityTheft Shield-which costs about 12.95 a month. The website is www.prepaidlegal.com. I'm not trying to sell you anything-just make sure you're protected. If you see anything suspicious, contact your banks and creditors and contact law enforcement-file a report with the police department.

I think this should also be reported to the BBB and FTC. GOV if it hasn't been done already.
I hope this helps.
