Inproperly installed Therma Tru entry door, didn't insulate around and draft is coming thru sidelights

Miscellaneous

My home is a modular home which was built in 2002 by Keiser Industries from Maine. The builder that "buttons up" if you will, finished installing the doors and other items that are not done at the factory. Even before we moved in the home we noticed that rain had come in from the outside and wet the carpeting. We also noticed and brought to the attention of the builder, that there was a big gap all around the door and that even air was seeping through the side lights. He supposedly fixed it and it was then we got our attorney to look at these defects among others in the home. We didn't get what we needed to repair everything, but he did not either. He refused as part of the deal never to be responsible for anything that goes wrong in the house!

It is hard for me to say whether the modular home company is part of the blame as it was installed prior to being delivered, but the builder certainly should have worked for us in getting this door problem fixed! I have just obtained an estimate to get the door unit replaced and that's about $3,400 for something that shouldn't be an expense on our part.

I would hope that if Therma Tru door reps see this that they might respond with some good news that they back their product and that definitely there is a defect in both installation and energy loss from air coming through the sidelights. I had an energy audit done recently which the infared camera showed the gapping air coming in and no insulation around the door before it was installed.
