Faulty installation of garage doo

Allied Doors installed my Stanley garage door in October, 1996. The door is falling apart and is supposed to have a lifetime warranty. Allied came to look at the door and basically said too bad, Stanley had sold the garage door division and Allied would not honor the warranty. They told me not to use the door and it would cost me $860 to repair. I called the builder, who really tried to help, and got the price reduced to $550. Since, I have had another company tell me the door was installed wrong and that is what is causing the damage. I think Allied should fix the problem that they created 6 years ago and not charge me for it. I did not cause the problem as they have insinuated. The top two panels of the door is splitting in the center, as if it were made of paper, and it bows down when opening or closing. Also, Allied told the builder that they had come to inspect the door, and they never showed up. Not only are they unwilling to admit fault, but they lied to the builder, who uses them extensively, about inspecting the door.
