I had taken a loan with cashtodaylimited in May for 200.00. While all of this was going on I was also in the middle of filing bankruptcy. As a result of the bankruptcy my checking account had been closed out. Before my acct was closed two payments of 78.00 each had been taken out and repaid to them.

Even after I informed them that my acct had been closed they still tried to debit my account, that is when the nasty and threatening phone calls started at work. I have tried over the years to explain to them that I do not own my home, car or have a bank account anymore as a result of all of this. I have tried to be reasonable with them, I even apologized. The phone calls would consist of yelling at me to just open up another account so they could take the money out, they tried to get me to give them bank information of family members so they can debit their accounts. I have asked them to either fax me in writing exactly how much I owe, they tell me they can not it was all done electronically. They also tried telling me that they could only call me during the day because they worked until 3:30, that turned out to be a lie, I have received calls at home after 8:00 pm and on weekends. I have sent them via fax a cease all communication letter per the Federal Debt Collectors Act about contacting me at work, that worked for a few days then the nasty calls started again. They have tried to talk to my supervisor about my situation (she already knows and has been very good about it).

Lately what I have done is tell them that I am not arguing with them nor am I going to sit there and listen to their threats. I have told and probably some days yelled back at them to just file whatever paperwork they want and leave me alone. The payback amounts that they have given me range anywhere from $516.00 (one time payoff via a money gram) to a one time pay off of $600.00 again via money gram or if I want to make other payment arrangements the amount could go as high as $6.000.00. I have informed them that without anything in writing they are not going to receive any money from me.

I have spoken to people within the company and in their legal department and they are all just as nasty and threatening which is why I have decided not to be so nice to them when they call. When I have talked to them and after being yelled at like a child I have hung up on them only to have them call back several times both at work and at home. Because they reside in the UK unfortunately from what I have found out there is nothing the US can do. I have filed numerous complaints with the FTC and the consumer affairs division in New Jersey.

I am hoping by filing this report that someone will be able to help or at least shut them down. I have heard from other people that even when they have agreed to the one time pay off amount and they have come back and started the whole process again with the threatening and harrassing phone calls.
