I received a payment settlement for a Capital One account that was delinquent. My balance is just over $700.
The notice was dated July 8. It stated that if I paid 25% of my balance due, ($179.83) as a down payment, I could then pay $53.95 per month to their office until the account was paid in full.
This is something I could do. So I scrounged up the down payment and sent it in.
The next notice, dated July 28 says: "This will acknowledge, with thanks, your payment of $179.83 for the above referenced account. Please make sure your next payment of $179.83 arrives by the 27TH of each month so that your payment plan is kept current."
I also received another notice, same date, saying: "With regard to recent information provided concerning the above, this office agrees to accept from you the following repayment plan:
REPAYMENT PLAN: $179.83 a month beginning August 27 and continuing on the same day each month until the balance due is paid in full."
I agreed to the $53.95. I do not understand how they can change it after THEY are the ones who offered it.
