I bought a HP pavilion dv6205 US notebook a year ago. The laptop has problems of heating and also screen started going dim on and off after 6 months. I contacted the technical support and they suggested few measures of removing and adding software etc. It seemed like it worked for a while. I was happy at that time, thinking these support staff are good. But eventually on third day again the problem started surfacing of screen turning dim. I used to shut down, restart etc to make things work.

Later, when I called support once again, now they said my warranty is expired two days back. Hmm, they convinved me to buy an extended warranty plan. Ok, I did and I sent the laptop for repair. Now, starts the real problem. The support staff were complete morons and have no idea of the problem. They would say, that there is liquid spillage and hence the screen goes dim. I just did a google check and found out that it is an inverter problem and could be fixed easily by replacing it.

Instead of identifying the original problem, they say that I have to pay 700$ for them to initiate the repair. I was dumbfound at their plan. I kept telling them that I purchased the warranty plan and they told me it is basically worthless and I should buy accident warranty plan. Well, is this the way you make money off innocent consumers. When I disputed that there is no liquid spillage, I got three different answers from support service staff or whoever answered those phones. All of them based in India (have no clue whats going on). Ok here is the funny part. First one told me that, basically my laptop absorbed the moisture from air and hence it is considered liquid spillage. I am outraged and called again.

The second one told me that somehow computer took the moisture and he is not sure. The third one told me, that the LCD is made of liquid and it got spilled somehow. I argued with them, but in vain. Now, if this is what you are going to expect from HP service, I am wondering who in the world gave them the best award for their support service. They basically released their dfective technology into market and are making excuses when the real problems started surfacing in. The final solution to my problem is that they returned my laptop without fixing it. I thought, instead of paying 700$ for HP, which at this point I lost total trust and faith in them, I would rather buy a new one for 500 bucks during the deals time. And by the way, The support staff does not seem to have any knowledge about whats going on and they only are interested in making you pay more money. They do not even have the courtesy to say sorry. Also the problem with their products does not only end with Laptops, I also had severe problem with their Digital cameras. People, if you want best bang for your buck, buy anything else out there except HP. Defintely HP is the worst I have seen and is a total rip off. These scumbags think they can rip off everyone with their cheap technology and cheap gimmicks. They got me, but rest of you be careful with HP. Stay away please...
