Homestyle Trust, Inc sent a letter saying I had won a Home improvment grant for 39,000. Call Fred Johnson or Carmen Sloan. New york

I got a letter from Homestyle Trust, Inc. Saying I had won a Home improvement grant for 39,000 dollars. They also sent a check for 4,890.00 for fees and taxes, drawn on M & T Bank. The account on the check was R & J Furniture. There was a number you had to call and talk to Fred Johnson or Carmen Sloan. The number was i-289-892-3258. To activate the check, which was to be sent to them for fees and taxes.

I decided to check this out because things did not add up. I checked with the Better Business Bureau and there is no Homestyle Trust, Inc. The phone number, I tried to call and it always said they were not available. The phone call was supposed to activate the check. I also checked to see if there was a R & J Furniture Co. And there is not a furniture company with that name or address. I then added the check and the remained of the 39,000 that I was supposed to get which was 35,850.00. When you add the check and the amount left over, it does not come to 39,000.00.

I called our consumer advice person on TV and got the Ripoff website and found this is a scam. I am so glad I checked everything out. I felt like it was a scam to start with.
