Vector Marketing
Don't waste your time closes thing to a pyramid schem

Miscellaneous

Vector Marketing is a very unethical shady company. Like most people the base pay they offer, which in my case was 15.50 and being my own boss made me very curious. I called to set up a interview and they told me I couldn't ask any questions over the phone amount the job because of the amount of calls they where receiving (which I have seen is a common thing).

They make you sit through a 90 minute "interview", which turns out to be a presentation to make you buy into the over priced product. The manager talked about the company and demonstrated the knives. He took a straight edge, a serrated knife, and their knife and cut through rope with it. Their knife cuts just as good as the serrated knife maybe a few seconds quicker. The straight edge doesn't go through well, but thats because straight edges are for slicing not cutting. So this makes you think there better than the straight edge.

So I'm taken to an office and they tell me there is only a few openings on the team. They tell me I got the job and that I have to attend unpaid training 6 hours a day for 3 days. You have to sit in the most uncomfortable chairs for this too.

This is where they start to lie to you and teach you how to lie and mislead the customer. They tell you the company is a fortune 500 company but it isn't. The jack up the price of their major competitor Henckels to make their overpriced knifes look affordable. They say their handles don't melt and are dishwasher safe but they are not. Cutco's knives are cheaply made, the knives are stamped which makes for a low quality knife. Henckels on the other hand forges their knifes which makes good knives and their knives are much cheaper than cutcos.

My manager said that his branch was the 10th best in sales in the nation. But the office looked dirty was was ridiculously small for such a "profitable" branch. Before you get the job they tell you there is no door to door sales and telemarketing. They also say you will be doing presentations for customers that already approved to see it.

But during the training you find out you will be selling to your family and friends, and that they are to give you recommendations. I didn't know that every one I knew already wanted to see this. Then when your done with them you are supposed to call this recommendations (telemarketing) and try, practically beg for them to let you show them the over priced product. I forgot to mention that you lie to the customer for the reason your coming over.

You will run out of recommendations because people don't want to anger their friends by giving you there numbers. So don't waste your time on this. You will lose money because you have to drive to each persons house and hardly any one will buy these over priced knifes, especially with the way the economy is now.

And as one word of advice, don't give them your friends numbers, unless you want tons of calls from your friends wondering why they are being harassed by Vector Marketing.
