Misrepresentation, not responsible for sales staff, indifferewnt to customer or machine problems

I am a small business owner who contracted with Merch for a credit card machine. I understood the contract and signed it, but the sales person said that if we did not reach a certain dollar amount in business, we could have our credit card machine transferred to another business, etc., and he would help. As soon as the machine was installed, our contract was sold to a collection agency. When our machine did not operate properly, Merch was indifferent. It was as if they never heard of us. The collection agency didn't care if the machine was working or not. I had a contract and had to pay.

I didn't follow lessons I had learned earlier — or should have learned. "If it is not in writing, it's worthless." That nice young man with an interesting Scandanavian name, the sales person for Merch, took me good. I have finished the four year lease, and now I can't get anyone at Merch or the collection agency to talk about it. We will stop payment at the bank, and I bet in no time there will be someone who wants to talk to us.
