Miscellaneous

I have had congenital heart failure my entire life and for as long as I can remember, I have been taking the same medications. For approximately three months, I was having to pay cash for my medications. My financial situation put me on a two week refill schedule at costco's pharmacy.
About a month ago, my benefits went into effect and CVS is the drugstore that I am recommended to go through. When I called the pharmacy at CVS, I informed them that they needed to transfer my prescriptions over from Costco. I also told them to DISREGARD the two week refill, stating very clearly, that they needed to contact my doctor who was expecting their call, to get authorization for a 30 day supply of my medication. I gave them my doctor's name and number and again repeated that the only reason for the two week refills from Costco, was because I was having to pay cash for my medication.
The person from CVS told me that she understood, they would call my doctor, and my prescription would be ready in an hour. This was at 8am and I informed her that I wouldn't be picking it up until I got off of work at 6pm. At 6:15pm I went to CVS and my prescription wasn't ready, they couldn't find my insurance information that I had given them over the phone, and after waiting almost an hour... I didn't even think to look at the amount of pills I was given for each one of my medications. (I take 4 different heart medications)
A week goes by, and I realize that two of my medications are gone, another one has a week supply left, and the other one has a 3 week supply left. Realizing I am out of medication on a Sunday night at 11pm, I had my doctor call my medication into a 24 hour CVS pharmacy, also located in Lakewood. When I went to pick them up, I was told that my insurance company denied my prescription because it had only been 7 days since I picked up a 30 day supply of all my medication. The pharmacist told me that even though all CVS stores are owned by the same company, I needed to go back to the original CVS where my prescription was filled. Two days without my medication. Needless to say, I came home early because I was dizzy and nauseated.
After confronting the pharmacist at CVS on Woodruff, and demanding an explanation as to why my insurance company was told that I was given a 30 day supply of all my medication when that wasn't true. The only explanation was that the reason I got 2-7day supplies: 1-14day supply: and 1-30day supply was because after getting my information from Costco, CVS carefully calculated the differnce and gave me the amount of pills, accordingly. WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING and HOW DID YOU EVER BECOME A PHARMACIST and the thought that peoples lives are in the hands of this woman... SCARES ME!
How do you take the difference of a two week supply and come up with a 30 day supply? I had to know if Costco told her to bill my insurance company for a 30 day supply of my medication and told her to really only give me a week supply on a couple of them because I probably wouldn't notice?
After going round and round and getting no logical explanation. The pharmacist gave me 5 pills that I was out of and told me that she would figure it all out and call me within the hour. Two days later, I had to go into the store and she had done NOTHING with my pills! After waiting another hour. I had to pay my co-pay AGAIN for the two prescriptions that I was only given a week supply of. Why. Why... Why. Do I have to pay for their incompetence, ignorance and stupidity? I got to thinking though... If CVS pulls this on all of their new pharmacy customers... No wonder there is a CVS popping up on every corner. What a bunch of thieves!!!
