Miscellaneous

I picked up my medication from the pharmacy at Costco west valley city, Utah. The pharmacy tech put the bottle in a paper bag, staped it shut, and hande it to me. Upon arriving home, I took the medication out of the bag and it didn't look like it was all there. I counted right then, and it was short exactly 10 pills. I contacted the pharmacy immediately. The associate, Paula informed me that her counts are correct and there is no possible way that the prescription was short. She also told me that they double count medications, I asked her who counted them, and she replied it doesn't matter who counted them! I asked her what I should do? I'm going to be short come the end of the month. She said, I can see if your doctor will authorize more, but you'll have to pay again. The next call I get is from my doctor saying that the pharmacy did not mention that I was short, or had just filled, but was requesting 10 pills. He goes on to inform me that they said I filled last month more than I am prescribed, and filled earlier than needed. I understand human error. But, there may be a serious problem going on at this pharmacy. I would like it documented who counted, double counted, and that customer was short. I would also like this issue to be monitored.
