I am 67 yrs old and my wife is 68. We pay all our bills on time and live within our means. I am going to let my wife finish this as my blood pressure is going up and I had two stents installed in my heart a few days ago..

I brought my husband home from the hospital on 6/27/08 to find that our garbage had not been picked up. So, I called FDS Disposal. I gave them my name and address. I asked." I want to know why our garbage had not been picked up." The girl retorted, "Because you haven't paid your bill." I replied that I had paid our bill for the months of May, June and July in the amount of $47.00. That my check number was 2790, dated April 16. We bantered back and forth about my not paying our bill and I was just emphatic that I had paid our bill and that I was looking at the cancelled check on the bank statement. And, I was getting very irate because the girl kept insisting that I hadn't paid our bill and that I would have to pay one hundred or more dollars to have us re-instated. I was really mad then. My husband took the phone and tried to get everything straighten out but to no avail. The girl told my husband that she would have to see the back of the check. Little did I realize, until our banker called us today to try to find the routing for the check, that FDS must run checks through an electronic processing method such as Walmart uses. With this method, there is no back to the check and the FDS Company must destroy the checks as they are not returned to us. Now we are going to have to front several hundred dollars for small claims court for a $47 dollar bill just to protect our credit. Wish me luck.
