Diversified Collections, INC, DCS Trying to collect taxes that they say I owe from 19 years ago!

This so called collection company called me out of the blue on a Thursday night in Feb and said" we have been looking for you for 19 years" and "You owe the State of VA $2700.00 and you need to pay it by Monday, or your pay check is going to be garnished or your house is going to have a lein put on it"! I was like what the heck are you talking about? She tried for a good 30 mins to get me to pay her some money, which I didn't, because I am not stupid.

Anyway, it turns out that for some odd reason, my 1989 state tax form was either lost or I mistakenly didn't file it for that year and now... 19 years later they want me to file a tax return for it. Now 19 years ago I was 19 years old. I don't have the W-2's or the paperwork from that long ago! So what am I to do?

I tried writing to the IRS, they only keep then on for 10 years and SSA didn't have electronic tapes of them that showed the state tax portion. Meanwhile the person at DCS, started calling me at work and at home harrassing me until I told her I knew the law and she had to quit calling me. This is a bunch of crap... I am now calling a tax attorney.
