Can they collect from a minor?

When I was thirteen years old, I joined one of those "Get 10 books for one-dollar each!". I have fulfilled the obligation, and I was even a gold member at one period, but I have moved quite abruptly last year and missed a single order. I am now seventeen. I moved back into my old residence and I'm still getting notices in the mail. My fee has apparently accrued to $120. I just blew this off, but I was told that it could still cause me to have bad credit even though I am a minor. Is this true?
